Hi, I know that you toolchain ninjas might already be aware of this new version but since I already use binutils-2.20 an all of my ~arch machines I though I share my experience with you. There's a bunch of patches that can be dropped from the 2.19.1-patches-1.2 patchset if used for binutils-2.20: 01_all_binutils-2.19-gcc-4.4.patch 10_all_binutils-2.18-strip-common.patch 11_all_binutils-2.18-strip-symbol-table.patch 63_all_binutils-2.19-pt-pax-flags-20081101.patch 65_all_binutils-2.19-amd64-32bit-path.patch" Furthermore the current glibc configure scripts seem to not consider 2.20 a working version for as and ld which makes it necessary to patch configure{,.in}. I will attach a patch which I used and tested in glibc-2.9_p20081201-r3 but (from a quick glance at the configure.in script) is also necessary for glibc-2.10.1 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
Created attachment 207531 [details, diff] glibc-2.9-binutils-2.20-configure-fix.patch
i was waiting for them to announce on the binutils list, but i guess they didnt or i missed it at any rate, i dont know why you think those patches arent needed as the pax/amd64 one still are
