On my system, with openrc >=0.5.1, everything appears fine at boot - net.eth0 says it's gotten an IP lease and there are no errors reported - but there is no actual connection. Once I have logged in, I have to /etc/init.d/net.eth0 resstart to actually have a connection. Doing this produces output identical to what was shown at boot, except when I do it manually an actual net connection exists. Reproducible: Always Not sure what info is needed. Please let me know. Also, I have posted to the forums. I'm pretty sure I haven't mis-configured anything. It seems like I'm not the only one with this problem, and yet lots of folks have no problems. I have no problems on other machines. So, not sure why this is happening. Perhaps it's a bug that shows itself under specific circumstances.
Maybe enable logging through /etc/rc.conf and inspect /var/log/rc.log? I do have issues in bug #289323, btw.
I'm guessing you have the new network init script enabled.
If you are using the old style network scripts, make sure you do not have a service called "network" installed in any runlevels. Once you check that, let me know if this is still an issue with openrc-0.5.2-r1. Thanks much. William
I am closing this due to no response from the reporter. However, if it is still an issue, please feel free to reopen. Thanks, William
