I ran emerge --sync rather than eix-sync this time to remove eix from the mix. I'm still running into the same issue. What else could be causing this problem? I'll attach the build log for the latest attempt.

So something is wrong with your system. This is the only package I have run into this with. I just upgraded portage to see if that was the problem and it made no difference. I don't see any other issues that would lead to this other than the filesize verification actually failing. http://gentoo.mirrors.tds.net/gentoo/distfiles/dmacvicar-kopete-facebook-ffc26f60c2d08260098eeb7bc22119a0dc35ccd3.tar.gz is the downloaded tarball, the long filename is in the mirror there, not on my machine. It appears that way across a number of mirrors. Can you provide the mirror you are pulling from? I'll try again after adding that to my list

Is that a known issue or do I need to file a bug elsewhere? Thanks again for your help.
it is a testing overlay so it is likely to be broken. But this issue is know. Got the hint from the maintainer himself.
I haven't been able to find a bug report on the issue so I don't see any information as to estimated time of resolution. Where do I go from here? Is there anywhere I can check the status? Thanks again.
