http://dev.compiz-fusion.org/~cornelius/2009/10/14/compiz-084/ Compiz 0.8.4 is now out! This release brings two new plugins, translation updates, many bug fixes, improved stability, and better screen resolution change handling. Also included is additional integration work for KDE 4. Reproducible: Always
We're bumping it , thanks for the bug :)
Bumped in the main tree but a new package was added on upstream : compizconfig-backend-kconfig4 . @jmbsvicetto: you're a kde guy, could you test it and bump it ? :) Then please close this bug

I got the same problem. Compiz dies. I wonder what happens if you try to unmerge all compiz ebuilds first and then try again.

Since kde3 is deprecated now, that would be probably better to mask this useflag... imho guys, compiz[kde] works for you ?
(In reply to comment #8) > Since kde3 is deprecated now, that would be probably better to mask this > useflag... imho > > guys, compiz[kde] works for you ? > please wait kde-4.3.1 stabilization , on x86 last stable is 3.5.10 , kde useflag cannot be enabled in x86 without unmasking kde-4.3.1
(In reply to comment #9) > > guys, compiz[kde] works for you ? > > anyway compiz[kde] works on amd64 , I cannot test if kde3 useflag works on amd64 since I removed kde3 and as I said before kde use flag cannot be enabled on x86 without unmasking new kde.

(In reply to comment #2) > Bumped in the main tree but a new package was added on upstream : > compizconfig-backend-kconfig4 . > > @jmbsvicetto: you're a kde guy, could you test it and bump it ? :) > > Then please close this bug I'll look into it this weekend. KDE-4.3.1 has been marked stable on x86 by now and KDE3 support dropped, so we can close this bug after that.
Please don't drop KDE 3.5 support =(
version 0.8.4 is in portage, and all related bug are closed, can we close this bug and start with stabilization of compiz?
(In reply to comment #14) > version 0.8.4 is in portage, and all related bug are closed, can we close this > bug and start with stabilization of compiz? Compiz 0.8.4 is already stable. I guess we should close this one.

(In reply to comment #16) > > No it's not, actually 0.8.4 dev cycle is in testing (and compiz-fusion too), Yeah, that's true. Once again I forgot I had compiz packages at my packages.keywords. > we've to wait a moment since severals bugs have been recently fixed in > x11-plugins/compiz-plugins-main and x11-wm/compiz, bug 302308 But the "version bump" is done, and this bug asks about a version bump. The kde3-related bugs are now closed, and the patches in bug 302308 are already bumped. We might be awaiting for its stabilization, and thus we need another bug, or change the purpose of this one. (but it will probably take at least 1 month before getting stable)
The bump is complete so I'll close this bug.
