If my diff is saved as "files/ncurses-5.2.20020511.patch", adding in the ebuild file

patch -p1 -d ${S} < ${FILESDIR}/${P}.patch || die

to the end of src_unpack corrects the problem.

While you're at it, correct the spelling in the DESCRIPTION :).

With the following setup emerge ncurses does not work:
