Description Miro Hadzhiev 2009-10-11 15:20:43 UTC
DRI extension is not enabled when the server is configured to use 'EXA" acceleration method. The system becomes flaky and most of the applications work slowly (especially OpenOffice).

Reproducible: Always

Actual Results:
DRI is not used
the system works slowly under X

Did turning off kernel mode-setting, as recommended in http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/16691, end up solving this problem?
Comment 2 Rémi Cardona (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-11-05 08:05:08 UTC
@Tomáš, what say you? :)
Comment 3 Tomáš Chvátal (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-11-29 13:11:08 UTC
We would need some additional informations, like xorg-server version.
Comment 4 Chí-Thanh Christopher Nguyễn gentoo-dev 2009-11-29 16:10:19 UTC
At least Xorg.0.log would be necessary to determine the cause

Sorry for the delayed answer...
Comment 7 Miro Hadzhiev 2009-12-21 19:06:50 UTC
And there is a warning that "(WW) RADEON(0): Direct rendering disabled".
Comment 8 Chí-Thanh Christopher Nguyễn gentoo-dev 2009-12-21 23:18:56 UTC
Your actual problem is this:

drmOpenDevice: node name is /dev/dri/card0
[drm] failed to load kernel module "radeon"
(EE) RADEON(0): [dri] RADEONDRIGetVersion failed to open the DRM
[dri] Disabling DRI.

Probably your kernel is missing DRM_RADEON support.
Comment 9 Miro Hadzhiev 2009-12-21 23:21:11 UTC
Sorry, my bug report is absolutely wrong. The kernel compilation was broken in some way and the radeon DRM had not been compiled correctly.
Comment 10 Miro Hadzhiev 2009-12-21 23:22:50 UTC
Thank you, Chí-Thanh! (:
