I'm using streamer from the xawtv package to capture v4l pictures. But after upgrading to jpeg-7 (and of course after revdep-rebuilding everything that depended on libjpeg.6.2.so and deleting this file) the streamer-program from xawtv did not work anymore and filled my log with segfaults: Oct 7 00:36:39 [kernel] streamer[4182]: segfault at b6d57000 ip b7feb48f sp b7556ecc error 4 in libjpeg.so.7.0.0[b7fcc000+34000] Oct 7 00:36:39 [kernel] streamer[4187]: segfault at b6ce5000 ip b7f7948f sp b74e4ecc error 4 in libjpeg.so.7.0.0[b7f5a000+34000] Oct 7 00:36:40 [kernel] streamer[4194]: segfault at b6cda000 ip b7f6e48f sp b74d9ecc error 4 in libjpeg.so.7.0.0[b7f4f000+34000] ... etc etc ... Only way to handle this was: 1. emerge jpeg-6 again 2. emerge xawtv to link it against jpeg-6 3. emerge jpeg-7 and not deleting libjpeg.6.2.so Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. completely upgrade to jpeg-7, including revdep etc. 2. emerge xawtv 3. /usr/bin/streamer -c $source->{device} -i $source->{source} -f jpeg -s $source->{width}x$source->{height} -j $source->{quality} -o foobar.jpeg Actual Results: streamer segfaults Expected Results: streamer should deliver an image from v4l source Portage 2.1.6.13 (default/linux/x86/2008.0/desktop, gcc-4.3.2, glibc-2.9_p20081201-r2, 2.6.29-gentoo-r3 i686) ================================================================= System uname: Linux-2.6.29-gentoo-r3-i686-AMD_Athlon-tm-_64_X2_Dual_Core_Processor_5200+-with-gentoo-1.12.11.1 Timestamp of tree: Tue, 06 Oct 2009 10:30:01 +0000 app-shells/bash: 4.0_p28 dev-java/java-config: 1.3.7-r1, 2.1.8-r1 dev-lang/python: 2.6.2-r1 dev-python/pycrypto: 2.0.1-r8 dev-util/cmake: 2.6.4 sys-apps/baselayout: 1.12.11.1 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.6-r2 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.63-r1 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r2, 1.10.2 sys-devel/binutils: 2.18-r3 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.4.1 sys-devel/libtool: 2.2.6a virtual/os-headers: 2.6.30-r1 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=athlon-mp -O2 -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/3.5/env /usr/kde/3.5/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/shutdown /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/share/config" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/ca-certificates.conf /etc/env.d /etc/env.d/java/ /etc/fonts/fonts.conf /etc/gconf /etc/revdep-rebuild /etc/sandbox.d /etc/terminfo /etc/texmf/language.dat.d /etc/texmf/language.def.d /etc/texmf/updmap.d /etc/texmf/web2c /etc/udev/rules.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=athlon-mp -O2 -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="distlocks fixpackages parallel-fetch protect-owned sandbox sfperms strict unmerge-orphans userfetch userpriv" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://distfiles.gentoo.org http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/gentoo" LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1" LINGUAS="de" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_CONFIGROOT="/" PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS="--recursive --links --safe-links --perms --times --compress --force --whole-file --delete --stats --timeout=180 --exclude=/distfiles --exclude=/local --exclude=/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="3dnow X a52 aac acl acpi alsa asf audiofile bash-completion berkdb bluetooth branding bzip2 cairo cdparanoia cdr cgi cli consolekit cracklib crypt ctype cups curl dbus dga dio directfb dri dts dvd dvdr dvdread eds emboss encode evo exif extra extras fam fbcon ffmpeg firefox flac fortran ftp gcj gd gdbm gif glib glitz glut gmp gnutls gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 hal hardened hpn iconv icq imagemagick imlib ipv6 isdnlog jabber java javascript jce jikes joystick jpeg jpeg2k kde kpathsea latex ldap libnotify libwww lm_sensors mad matroska mbox mikmod mime mmx mng modules mp3 mp4 mpeg mudflap musepack musicbrainz ncurses nis nls nptl nptlonly nsplugin ogg openal opengl openmp pam pcre pdf perl png posix ppds pppd python qt qt3 qt3support qt4 quicktime readline reflection samba sasl scanner science sdl session sharedmem sndfile snmp sockets speex spell spl sse ssl startup-notification svg svga swat sysfs sysvipc tcltk tcpd theora threads thunar tiff truetype unicode usb userlocales utempter v4l vcd vorbis win32codecs wmf wxwidgets wxwindows x264 x86 xine xml xml2 xmlrpc xorg xosd xpm xsl xulrunner xv xvid zlib" ALSA_CARDS="ali5451 als4000 atiixp atiixp-modem bt87x ca0106 cmipci emu10k1 emu10k1x ens1370 ens1371 es1938 es1968 fm801 hda-intel intel8x0 intel8x0m maestro3 trident usb-audio via82xx via82xx-modem ymfpci" ALSA_PCM_PLUGINS="adpcm alaw asym copy dmix dshare dsnoop empty extplug file hooks iec958 ioplug ladspa lfloat linear meter mmap_emul mulaw multi null plug rate route share shm softvol" APACHE2_MODULES="actions alias auth_basic authn_alias authn_anon authn_dbm authn_default authn_file authz_dbm authz_default authz_groupfile authz_host authz_owner authz_user autoindex cache dav dav_fs dav_lock deflate dir disk_cache env expires ext_filter file_cache filter headers include info log_config logio mem_cache mime mime_magic negotiation rewrite setenvif speling status unique_id userdir usertrack vhost_alias" ELIBC="glibc" INPUT_DEVICES="keyboard mouse synaptics evdev" KERNEL="linux" LCD_DEVICES="bayrad cfontz cfontz633 glk hd44780 lb216 lcdm001 mtxorb ncurses text" LINGUAS="de" SANE_BACKENDS="genesys avision umax" USERLAND="GNU" VIDEO_CARDS="nv v4l vesa" Unset: CPPFLAGS, CTARGET, EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS, FFLAGS, INSTALL_MASK, LANG, LC_ALL, PORTAGE_COMPRESS, PORTAGE_COMPRESS_FLAGS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS, PORTDIR_OVERLAY
I'll look into it this weekend. It might be similar to failures in mjpegtools and transcode, both patched now...
Created attachment 217293 [details, diff] explicitly set explicitly set do_fancy_upsampling/do_fancy_downampling to FALSE to FALSE Same fix as mjpegtools, trasncode and cinelerra: After raw_data_out = TRUE, explicitly set do_fancy_upsampling to FALSE, and after raw_datAain = TRUE, explicitly set do_fancy_downampling to FALSE. Compile tested only do to lack of hardware.
Created attachment 217295 [details, diff] xawtv-3.95-r2.ebuild patch patch to ebuild to apply xawtv-3.95-jpeg-7.patch
I tested your patches and xawtv works without libjpeg.so.62, thank you. Please put the patches into the portage tree.
