Or is this a portage issue?
Comment 1 Arcady Genkin (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-05-20 22:12:18 UTC
So, what is the issue? Opera 6.0 (final) is masked out, so the latest is
6.0_pre2-r4, that's correct. Maybe we should remove the older ebuilds, but
am I missing something else?
Comment 2 Seemant Kulleen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-05-20 22:20:03 UTC
no I guess not. I was just curious, because opera-static's 6.0 is unmasked.
Comment 3 Arcady Genkin (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-05-20 22:28:04 UTC
Well, static-6.0 *works*, while dynamic -6.0 works for some people some of
the time. ;^) There is a libpng problem, discussed in -dev mailing list
lately. I'm quite sure that it also applies to the ebuilds predating 6.0
final.

In a nutshell, opera requires that the version of qt2 installed on the system
were linked against libpng-1.0.12, and I don't know how to specify this
dependency without making qt-2 ebuild explicitely dependent on
=libpng-1.0.12*. But even then it won't work for people who already have a
version of qt2 that was linked against libpng-1.2.

I've updated comment in package.mask accordingly.

sorry about that, then
