Perhaps we should add things like 'ide-smart' and other diagnostic
tools to the liveCDs to make them even more popular and useful.

I just happened to need ide-smart to make sure a disk wasn't going
bad and thought it would be a good idea.

I agree, but im already catching heat over iso size. but most 
utils are "very" small

Well, though we won't add this to the minimal CD, it has been added to Project Dolphin, and also to my spec files for the Gentoo LiveCD, which will be a complete LiveCD environment/GRP replacement, rather than just an install disk.
