Description George Prowse 2009-10-02 23:26:25 UTC
when attempting a revdep-rebuild -L libxcb-xlib.so.0 it gives a list of packages that contains:

gnome-base/-MERGING-libgnomekbd:0

Afaik -MERGING-libgnomekbd isn't a package and emerge certainly spits it out as such:

emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "gnome-base/-MERGING-libgnomekbd:0".

I think something has gone wrong in revdep-rebuild

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.revdep-rebuild -L libxcb-xlib.so.0
2.emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "gnome-base/-MERGING-libgnomekbd:0".
3.Profit!!!

Actual Results:
Calculating dependencies... done!

emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "gnome-base/-MERGING-libgnomekbd:0".

Expected Results:
Install missing files

Obviously INVALID.
This happens sometimes if you run revdep-rebuild ,
while emerge is running.
You either need to run revdep-rebuild with '-i'
or clean its cache.
Comment 2 George Prowse 2009-10-03 00:18:40 UTC
i'm running revdep rebuild according to the libxcb upgrade guilde:

http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/desktop/x/x11/libxcb-1.4-upgrade-guide.xml

Also, I have cleared the *.rr files numerous times. I am currently trying to manually emerge some of the packages but the gnome packages seem to like failing on with
/usr/lib/libxcb-xlib.so.0: undefined reference to `_xcb_unlock_io'
/usr/lib/libxcb-xlib.so.0: undefined reference to `_xcb_lock_io'

Also it comes up in the list of packages to merge like so:
gnome-base/libgnomeui
gnome-base/librsvg
gnome-base/-MERGING-libgnomekbd:0
gnome-base/nautilus
gnome-extra/bug-buddy
gnome-extra/deskbar-applet
Comment 3 George Prowse 2009-10-03 01:13:02 UTC
to fix it you just need to emerge libgnomekbd

It still shouldn't happen though
Comment 4 Paul Varner (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-09-23 20:17:01 UTC
This is a bug in revdep-rebuild that has been fixed in subversion and a patch to revdep-rebuild is on bug 338031. The fix will be in the next release.
