Error message was: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" : " "Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus)" "
KCrash: Application 'amarok' crashing...

Comment 3 Nico Schlömer 2009-10-03 14:39:34 UTC
Ouch!

Downgraded to 2.1.1, and the crash persists. Hm...
Comment 4 hakushka 2009-10-03 16:24:50 UTC
fix:
emerge -C =media-libs/jpeg-7
emerge =media-libs/jpeg-6b-r8
emerge media-sound/amarok-utils media-sound/amarok
Comment 5 Nico Schlömer 2009-10-03 17:23:02 UTC
Confirmed it's a jpeg issue. Downgrading to 6.8-r* solves the issue for me.
There should prolly be a proper dependency in the ebuild I guess..

Changed the bug title accrodingly.

Cheers,
Nico
Comment 6 Tomáš Chvátal (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-10-03 17:35:51 UTC
There is postins message for jpeg explaining how one should proceed in order to have not broken system.

If you didnt read/store it then just unmerge the compat lib and run this two commands as root:

rm -rf /usr/lib/libjpeg.so.62*
revdep-rebuild
