Hi, according to http://www.winehq.com/?issue=187#Glibc%20Breakage wine has problems with some versions of glibc, but it's fixed in current glibc CVS. As my wine crashs on gentoo (yes i'm using a masked glibc version) i suspect gentoo's glibc isn't new enough that it includes the fix. pls upgrade to newest cvs snapshot (if it won't break any other things).
wine works great over hear with glibc in portage
thomas@borg-cube thomas $ qpkg -I -i glibc sys-libs/glibc-2.3.2-r4 *
glibc is Azarah's term.
yep, i'm running same glibc Portage 2.0.49-r4 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.3.1, glibc-2.3.2-r4, 2.6.0-test5)
strange..which wine version are you using? (I'm using 20030911) did you compile wine with glibc..-r4 or before upgrading glibc?
yes, same ebuild you have and i rebuilt wine after glibc
Is this fixed for -r5/6 of glibc ?
wine-200301016 seems to work with glibc-2.3.2-r7 (~x86). But I cannot get it to actually run anything. Boo hoo. I am new to WINE so I don't know if this is a problem with NPTL/glibc or what...
There is a -r8 of glibc now. Try that with wine and report results here.
i have nptl enabled -r8 and wine still works here ...
wine works with -r8 and without nptl here.
