Description Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2009-09-28 07:33:21 UTC
Seems that eselect-1.1.3 should provide a news module to replace eselect-news, then, portage has the following as RDEP:
                || ( >=app-admin/eselect-1.1 >=app-admin/eselect-news-20071201 ))

Then, I got my eselect-news depcleaned some time ago. The problem is that eselect-1.1.3 module seems to not work:
# eselect news
!!! Error: Can't load module news
exiting

My emerge --info:

I have just seen that it's called "news-tng", then, it should be renamed or portage should be modified to ask for it

Thanks
Comment 2 Ulrich Müller gentoo-dev 2009-09-28 21:58:34 UTC
Right, it's a bit unfortunate that the module is named news-tng in eselect-1.1*, but otherwise there would have been a name clash with the stand-alone module from app-admin/eselect-news. See bug 271447, in particular bug 271447 comment #1.

The module has been renamed to "news" in eselect-1.2.

Since stabilisation of eselect-1.2.3 will start soon, I think that changing the message in Portage isn't worth it any more.

Fine with me then
