Maybe disabling ccache for building it could help you:
# export CCACHE_DISABLE=1
# emerge -1 openoffice

It works without ccache, thanks, this report went a bit out of my sight.

Andreas, can you please add a "ewarn" message suggesting users to emerge openoffice with CCACHE_DISABLE=1 when build fails? Even if ccache speed up compilation a lot, seems that it can fail (similar to parallel build issues)
