I was trying to write Ruby FFI (Foreign Function Interface) bindings for dev-libs/tre, but after checking the compiled library with the nm command, I noticed it was missing all symbols. FFI bindings require that the library have symbols, so that functions in the library can be dynamically called during runtime.
