Description José Fonseca 2002-05-20 04:46:04 UTC
The "Home" and "End" keys didn't work properly on gnome-terminal.

I don't know if this is related to some other setting specific of my system.

If this happens always then perhaps you may wish to review the default
/etc/inputrc. It was necessary to comment the lines 61-62:

Matt, I think you have a similar bug report for rxvt or so, right?

The "Home" and "End" keys are working properly in gnome-terminal 2.0.0
What version were you referring to ?

I first experienced the problem with the gnome-terminal from the gnome-1.4.x.
Since then I made my custom ~/.inputrc and switched to gnome-2.0, but I've
disabled my customized ~/.inputrc and tested gnome-terminal-2.0 and the Home and
End keys did worked as they were supposed.

I've no easy way now to test the gnome-terminal from gnome-1.4.x to see if the
problem persists but it's the most probable as the gnome-1.4.x hasn't received
much attention with the gnome-2.0 development.

It's also difficult to know where actually the problem should be fixed because
although gnome-terminal reports to be xterm there are some different behaviors
regarding keypresses, even on gnome-terminal-2.0... (One example is that I can't
map Ctrl+Left/Right to jump to previous/next word on gnome-terminal on readline
and/or vim while both work fine on xterm )

I guess I'll wait for gnome-2.0 is realeased and then I'll put this problem
because gnome-terminal/libzvt has other open bugs which are much more important
(such as sticky key not working, making impossible to enter

seems to be replace or remake libzvt after the release...

Thank you José.
I'll close this bug. I'll keep an eye on the gnome-terminal/libzvt future
development.
