As such, we really want to be able to depend on a package not only by version,
but also by useflags, ie:

media-libs/gdk-pixbuf[ >=0.14 png ]

using the "extended syntax" that we defined last year.


Any ideas for a stop-gap measure until Portage can do this ?

accepting bug and moving to libraries. This is a problem in the gdk-pixbuf
ebuild. It should always depend on libpng.
