iwl5000-ucode-8.24.2.12 which contains API v2 firmware (recommended for current stable 2.6.30 kernels) is not stable. I request to move it to stable branch. There are no opened bugs in the tree for the package. Here is what I have in dmesg with old firmware: e1000e 0000:00:19.0: irq 33 for MSI/MSI-X e1000e 0000:00:19.0: irq 33 for MSI/MSI-X iwlagn 0000:03:00.0: firmware: requesting iwlwifi-5000-2.ucode iwlagn 0000:03:00.0: iwlwifi-5000-2.ucode firmware file req failed: -2 iwlagn 0000:03:00.0: firmware: requesting iwlwifi-5000-1.ucode iwlagn 0000:03:00.0: Loaded firmware iwlwifi-5000-1.ucode, which is deprecated. Please use API v2 instead. iwlagn 0000:03:00.0: Firmware has old API version. Expected v2, got v1. Me too. I'm having problems with the old firmware 5.4.0.11 and the stable 2.6.30 kernel. I was forced to use the new masked firmware 8.24.2.12. This bug holds for everyone who has a new notebook with a 5xxx intel card
