after running --sync, and --update system, carefully stepping through --update world (so I could know better what was changing) firefox 3.5.2 stopped running. Doing some searching, I found references to revdep-rebuild, and I've since (been three days now) upgraded / rebuild / unmerged+re-emerged 3.5.3, including more mild CFLAGS (even though they worked last week) and found that nothing changed. 'emerge --update --deep world' and revdep-rebuild both claim I'm completely up to date with this morning's --sync. Created attachment 204974 [details] output of "strace firefox" ran strace locally from an xterm on the machine in question. As I said, it used to work until I updated everything. And my AMD64 machine at home runs 3.5.3 successfully, and I didn't do anything different ....

Please run revdep-rebuild --library libnss3.so.12 you most likely have a link error that normal revdep-rebuild will not find. run the above command and post back please.

I had a similar problem, so I run firefox in a gdb environment. Doing a backtrace (bt) after the segfault I realized it was an incompatibility with gnome-globalmenu. Perhaps it helps.
sorry, no ... I don't have gnome anything, or kde. USE='-gnome -kde' among others; however perhaps there's something about XFCE that was remade into incompatibility. Will search further

I have this problem too, but for me firefox-bin seems to work (for the most part). Also, I have noticed that firefox (not bin) seems to crash while loading GMail at least, but possibly others. I have so far not noticed it crashing without launching GMail, in particular, it crashes right after the GTalk applet on the left loads.
It has been almost a year since last post, please reopen if you can produce with latest stable.
