After upgrading to media-libs/alsa-lib-1.0.21 dmix doesnt work. Any application (e.g. Amarok) locks audio device. When other app (e.g. mplayer,firefox,etc) tries output sound the following error happened: Playback open error: Device or resource busy When I downgrade to media-libs/alsa-lib-1.0.20-r1 everything works great. Version 1.0.21a is available@upstream. Some people over at Arch Linux reported that this version did it for them.
