Hi, the version 2.4.4.0 of GDM is out. It introduces some cool new features like facelists in the graphical greeter and stuff... Just taking the current latest ebuild and renaming it (plus copying and renaming some "files" subdir) seems to work fine for me. It needs some better testing though because I'm not used to all the stuff I found inside (and outside) the ebuild... :-( I would prefer if you merged it to CVS ASAP with the ~arch flag rather than waiting for the final "production class" ebuild... Thanks in advance... Radek Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
GDM 2.4 requires changes to session handling and layout , amongst other things. This is fairly major changes that would be unwise to ship just copied over settings from before without thorough checking and verification. And please note, ~arch does -not- mean "under heavy development and prone to break" but -testing- of the -ebuild-. For hurried deployment and anxious use, may I redirect you to GARNOME.
Yeah, I know what the ~arch thing is meant for. I just didn't know that the changes are so complex... :-(
and now v2.4.4.3 : ftp://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/gdm/2.4/gdm-2.4.4.3.tar.bz2 but as other said, 2.4.1.6 works well, even with gnome 2.4, so, let the gentoo-gnome team the time to bump it. side note : gdm maintener stopped working for redhat and got back to school, so there won't be any new version anytime soon (except if a big uggly bug is discovered)
initial 2.4.4.5 got added just before, will stay a while in p.mask first for a while. Please give it a go.
