Description Mattias Merilai 2009-09-07 14:23:00 UTC
Using xine-lib-1.2.9999_* from berkano's overlay, i began to wonder why does the xine backend not show up in phonon. This is what the phonon configure script reports:

-- The following OPTIONAL packages could NOT be located on your system.
-- Consider installing them to enable more features from this software.
+ Xine: xine-lib v1.1.90 was found on your system. This version contains major changes compared to 1.1.x and has not been tested properly for use with this backend. Consider downgrading to version 1.1.9. <http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=9655&package_id=9732>
+ Xine: libxine is needed to compile phonon xine backend <http://xinehq.de/>

The resulting phonon was then of course built with no xine support. Downgrading xine-lib to 1.1.16.3-r1 resolved the problem.

As a principle, I don't like the idea of restricting deps versions because of "experimental" versions available through overlays. We don't do it for the kde-testing overlay - which is our "official" overlay.

Yeah, no deps for non-existing packages.
