pvcreate hangs forever without working on kernel 2.6.30

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. use linux 2.6.30
2. pvcreate /dev/sda3 [must be primary partition afaik]


Actual Results:  
fail

agk: are you going to spin a .52 release soon, or should we just apply the patch in the meantime?

"soon" - yes, but it won't be before Friday this week now (I'm busy at a conference) and there are a few release blockers still waiting to be applied to the upstream tree.
