Description Arne Babenhauserheide 2009-09-06 16:59:47 UTC
Hi,

When doing some license "research" (I wanted to see if all my installed programs were fsf approved) I saw that the MIT license is not listed as gpl-compatible in /usr/portage/profile/license_groups but only as osi-approved.

The fsf site lists it as gpl-compatible, though, but also states that it should be called X11 license.

http://www.fsf.org/licensing/licenses/index_html

So, either the packages which claim an MIT license should claim "X11" instead, or the MIT license should be put into the GPL-COMPATIBLE line in license_groups.

(that file is extremely useful, by the way!)

Best wishes,
Arne

Reproducible: Always

Hmmm... Who to assign to... Taking a guess.

Thanks, I've added MIT to the GPL-COMPATIBLE group.
