Using the "Basic" CD performing a stage 2 installation of 1.4, I encounter a 
failure during the "emerge system" step of the installation.  I have reproduced 
the error 4 times now. I am running a Dell OptiPlex GX110, PIII 700MHz, 256MB 
RAM.  I downloaded the stage 2 tarball from:

http://distros.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/gentoo/releases/x86/1.4/stage
s/pentium3/stage2-pentium3-1.4-20030726.tar.bz2

The error I am encountering after attempting the "emerge system":
make: *** [options.o] Error 1
make: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs
