Sorry, somebody missed something. From the release notes: Use of external libmpg123 for mp3 decoding (earlier they were embedding a lib, maybe even the same one) So, using the old ebuild may cause a regression. Explicit rdep on media-sound/mpg123 (perhaps through a +useflag) is required.

Not that random. This was the correct one - change was introduced in this version and first ebuild introduced a regression.
