Check the attachment for the actual error. Not sure whether this is related to #283395, so I open a new bug.

Synced, upped portage and tried again - still fails to compile with the same error.

Where did you fix things?

I've deleted the ebuild in $PREFIX/Gentoo/usr/portage, synced and emerged - kaboom. So not in the ebuild I guess.

You mentioned eclasses, the only one recently updated is:
-rw-r--r-- 1 sschwyn staff 19868 Sep  2 11:03 toolchain-funcs.eclass

ok, I believe I fixed it for real now.  At least I could emerge readline myself with the eclass I just committed.

Copy that, readline-6.0_p4 has just compiled fine on my box. Take this user's bunch of thanks, Grobian, for your continuous work on GP!
