Description Omar Saleem 2009-08-31 12:53:48 UTC
When trying to compile compiz, it fails with
/usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.3.4/../../../../i686-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld:.libs/screenshot.o: file format not recognized; treating as linker script
and then consequent error messages and die messages.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Try to install compiz
2. Wait
3. Note error

Actual Results:
Install fails :(

Expected Results:
Install succeeds!

Using paludis, but not sure that should make a difference.

This looks like a parallel make/ccache problem.

So...how do I resolve the issue?
Comment 4 Jorge Manuel B. S. Vicetto (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-09-05 12:02:00 UTC
Start by disabling ccache and trying to build compiz again. If that fails, try with MAKEOPTS="-j1".
Comment 5 Omar Saleem 2009-09-05 16:50:28 UTC
Disabling ccache fixed it. Thanks!
