Description Tim Hobbs 2002-05-18 16:02:25 UTC
Now that the URL for rsyncing has changed to rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-
portage the 1.1a "emerge rsync" fails because it attempts to connect to
rsync://cvs.gentoo.org/gentoo-x86-portage

In the short term this could just be added to the install docs, long term of
course it would be fixed on the install CD.

I enter this bug merely for the next user who is searching for resolution.

I would put this as a blocker. I've seen this at least twice now installing
new systems, and if I weren't already knowledgable about the fix, I might have
ended my install after some hours of success!

Please bump to BLOCKER status or fix Real Soon Now.

The line in /etc/make.conf reads:
SYNC="rsync://cvs.gentoo.org/gentoo-x86-portage"

When it should read:
SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage"

Thanks for a great distribution!

Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux".

I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers,
this is the only reasonable way to do this.
