27 Aug 2009; Samuli Suominen <ssuominen@gentoo.org>
libtheora-1.1_beta3.ebuild,
+files/libtheora-1.1_beta3-theora_disable_encode.patch:
Fix building with USE="-encode".

But I found out yesterday this isn't the correct solution, if encode is disabled it should use the encoder_disabled.c to create a stub (almost empty) library with
only error codes. lib/Makefile.am has it listed, and I'm not sure where it goes wrong...
Comment 3 Hanno Zysik (geki) 2009-08-28 13:41:58 UTC
I just added

http://svn.xiph.org/trunk/theora/lib/encoder_disabled.c

to the lib/ folder and am happily finishing the build. :)
Comment 4 Diego Elio Pettenò (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-08-29 12:10:01 UTC
That would work if they _tagged the release_; which they didn't, obviously, because they are xiph.
Comment 5 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-08-29 13:23:21 UTC
fixed in cvs
