Gnome power manager with Xserver had some very annoying issues like random blanking and screensavers not running properly. See here: http://blogs.gnome.org/hughsie/2009/08/14/blanking-in-gnome-power-manager-fixed/ and here: http://blogs.gnome.org/hughsie/2009/08/17/gnome-power-manager-and-blanking-removal-of-bodges/ Upstream urges distros to patch their xservers in order to overcome the problem. I think this should be consiidered before 2.26 goes stable. It is very annoying at the moment. Patches are described in the post: http://blogs.gnome.org/hughsie/2009/08/17/gnome-power-manager-and-blanking-removal-of-bodges/
already fixed in xorg-server-1.6.3.901
