Description Tomas Psika 2009-08-26 16:27:45 UTC
It seems that gdm jpeg loader (libpixbufloader-jpeg.so) requires libjpeg.so.62 library. But that doesnt exist after emerging media-libs/jpeg-7. Emerging media-libs/jpeg-compat fixes that but it should work out-of-the-box.

# ldd /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/loaders/libpixbufloader-jpeg.so
        linux-gate.so.1 =>  (0xffffe000)
        libjpeg.so.62 => /usr/lib/libjpeg.so.62 (0xb7ecf000)
        libgdk_pixbuf-2.0.so.0 => /usr/lib/libgdk_pixbuf-2.0.so.0 (0xb7eb5000)
        libgio-2.0.so.0 => /usr/lib/libgio-2.0.so.0 (0xb7e49000)
        libgobject-2.0.so.0 => /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0 (0xb7e0c000)
        libgmodule-2.0.so.0 => /usr/lib/libgmodule-2.0.so.0 (0xb7e06000)
        libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0xb7e02000)
        libglib-2.0.so.0 => /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0 (0xb7d29000)
        libm.so.6 => /lib/libm.so.6 (0xb7d03000)
        libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0xb7bb9000)
        /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xb7f19000)

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
Assume gnome-base/gdm emerged.

1. unmerge media-libs/jpeg-compat
2. emerge media-libs/jpeg-7
3. configure GDM to use some theme containing jpeg image

Please use revdep-rebuild to remerge broken packages. jpeg-compat should only be used for binary apps.

Thanks
