When trying to sync from the eu rotation, I get a mirror (every time so far) with the address 8.15.228.169. This mirror errors out with "Connection Refused". 1. Where did you get 8.15.228.169? That's not ANYWHERE in our DNS or mirror lists. If you got that as the result of a DNS lookup, I suspect that your ISP is seriously mucking with your DNS results. 2. SYNC="rsync://rsync.eu.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" that's not valid. it's rsync.europe.gentoo.org that you want. We have two-letter codes for countries, and longer names for continents (otherwise they conflict with some countries). EU = not assigned != Europe NA = Namibia != North America SA = Saudi Arabia != South Africa AS = American Samoa != Asia AU = Australia (vs. Australasia/Oceania which is the continent) AN = Netherlands Antilles != Antarctica AF = Afghanistan != Africa
Seems you're correct. My ISP redirects invalid requests to one of their advertising servers. I didn't realize that the eu was .europe. This bug is invalid then. Sorry for the mixup and thanks for correcting me. :D
