When it is opened, it just displays "XML Parsing Error: no element found

Line Number 1, Column 1:"

It's just as if there's no document.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Just open an RSS.

Actual Results:  
Displays:

"XML Parsing Error: no element found
Location: file:///
Line Number 1, Column 1:"

Expected Results:  
Contents displayed.

Same here on x86_64.

Update liferea-1.4.23 works fine here.

Me too.   What should I do?  "Resolve bug, changing resolution" to what?

I'd just change the severity to "normal". It's up to the devs to choose when and how to close a bug...

Since it's fixed in a newer version, I'll close.  I've requested that 1.4.28-r1 go stable in bug #282801
