Please welcome as recruit to be new developer Patrice Clement, from , France. He worked on getting Gentoo/NetBSD in shape for this SoC and he wishes to continue in order to make it on par on the FreeBSD flavour.
Just to let you know that we haven't been ignoring you but we just have backlog to handle and it takes a while before we get the queue from in front of you handled.
I will be your recruiter. Please send your quizzes to recruiters@gentoo.org when approved by your mentor. Always add a comment to this bug when you send something to that address. When the quizzes are sent please contact me by IRC or email to schedule the first review session. If you think that recruiters aren't paying attention to this bug at any later point in time, it's your job to ping us on IRC if you don't want any delays.
So what's the status here? There's a week left to the deadline.
Hello Petteri, I'm sorry for not having inform you earlier. I'm very busy at the moment due to university related courseworks (examinations and courses revision). I won't be able to give you all of my quizz: actually, I have just done half of it. Is it possible to report the deadline to january 2010 ? around the 15th or something like that ? Sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you.

I will close this bug for now in order for it to now show on our lists. Have your mentor reopen this bug when you have the quizzes ready.
(In reply to comment #5) Hi Petteri, Hi Luca After almost 9 months of quietness, I'm back. This long absence is partially due to my studies which took most my time this year. I have been studying a master in computer science at Oxford Brookes Univ and handed in my master thesis yesterday. Meaning I'm now relieved from all university duties, from now on till a very long time! I'm still considering to become a Gentoo developer. The main problem for the past year was a lack of time, obviously. Instead of being part of the project without really getting involved, I decided not to apply and come back a bit later on, when everything would be sorted out. Which is now the case! Let me know if my application would be considered if I do so. It doesn't seem to be a problem from Luca's point of view according to the last chat we had on IRC. Unfortunately, he's not the only one who takes decisions in the recruiting process. Cheers

No problem from my side at all.
(In reply to comment #8) > No problem from my side at all. > All right guys, thanks. I'm going to start working on the quizzes again. It shouldn't be very long as I thoroughly kept the answers I've replied so far in text file versioned with Hg. Luca, as usual, I'll prob give you a buzz if I need help, which should be the case :). Petteri, once I get through the quizzes, I'll let you know. Cheers

Reopen when you are ready
Alright guys. I don't like to leave things undone. The fact that I have never completed the interview process to becoming a Gentoo developer quite bothers me: I have invested time in a project I have never completed and brought to the end. I had a chat last night with Luca Barbato and I asked him if it would be appropriate to reopen this bug and restart the process from the beginning so that I could, potentially, finish the whole process. I know it's been a while and I know reopening this bug might come across as bizarre. But hey, I can't help it, I have to get this done! Let me know if it would still be possible and what I need to do. I still use Gentoo to date even though I haven't looked at the handbook in the past 3 years. I am very keen on contributing and helping out. Cheers, Patrice

Please make sure that your mentor brings you back into shape and you get finished the quizzes. Once Luca is confident that you are able to finish the review process he should reopen the bug.
Just a quick heads-up so that everybody is on the same page: We have been in touch with Luca over the past month and he has been really helpful in guiding me and getting me back up to speed to answer the remaining questions from the quizzes (organizational and especially the technical one). I submited the final draft this week and Luca is in the process of reviewing it. Luca please comment on this ticket when you think we can go ahead in the process.
I sent my answers last week. Waiting for a feedback now.
(In reply to Patrice Clement from comment #16) > I sent my answers last week. Waiting for a feedback now. Thanks for sending your stuff. Currently all recruiters are busy with candidates, but as soon as someone is free, you will be assigned.
