During the boot of a WinXP guest the VM hangs. This is independent on whether i use a VM created using an older version of virtualbox-bin (3.0.2) and booting from a VDI-disk or booting from the ISO-image of WinXP. I attached the URL to a BUG-report on the virtualbox-website. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. use virtualbox-bin-3.0.4 on a AMD64-host 2. create a new VM or use an existing with WinXP guest 3. start the VM Actual Results: VM with WinXP guest is not booting, it simply hangs. Expected Results: VM with WinXP guest is booting. I am aware, that this BUG probably cannot be solved by the Gentoo-developers, but the virtualbox-bin-3.0.2.ebuild should be added to the official tree again. I think older version of ebuild-files should only be removed, if newer versions work more or less. So a solution might be to add virtualbox-bin-3.0.2 to the tree again and wait for the next maintenance release (3.0.6) and then remove it.
2.x and 3.0.2 were removed because of security issues.
Hi, this should be marked as upstream (accordingly with vbox tickey #4695)
