Description sorin 2009-08-13 13:41:56 UTC
Starting with version 4.* of kde kate's embedded terminal is unable to change to the viewed file's ddirectory if the directory resides on another host and is accessed using the sftp protocol. As far as I remember kate-3.*'s terminal didn't have such problems.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge kate
2. open up kate and open a remote hosted file through sftp and a locally hosted file
3. open the ebedded terminal
4. toggle between the two opened files using the file browser on the left and watch embedded terminal's messages
Actual Results:
The terminal can't change the directory to the remote host and an error message is displayed:
~ $ ### Sorry, can not cd into ...

Expected Results:
Change to the remote hosted directory containing the file using (at least) the sftp protocol to access it.

For better performance I use ssh keys to access the remote machine. The files can be opened by the editor and can be saved successfully.

Hello,

This is more of upstream bug than problem with how we package it in gentoo. Please consider opening the bug in upstream bugzilla [1] and add the bug url here so we can track it.
