Description Tiago Marques 2009-08-11 22:12:26 UTC
XBMC fails to link to some DBUS bindings when compiling with gcc-3.4.6, compiled fine with GCC-4.3.2. Perhaps a warning should go into the ebuild?
This didn't happen with 8.10

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install GCC-3.4.6
2.emerge XBMC-9.04
3.

Actual Results:
XBMC compilation fails when compiling util.a, in settings dir, I think.

Expected Results:
It should compile and run fine.

Why are you using a compiler from the stone age?

Sorry to say that tracking issues with old compilers is outside the scope of ebuild maintenance; there is plenty of work just keeping up with the most current stable and the latest testing compilers.

Thanks for bothering to write a report, and please don't be discouraged from filing reports on other issues that you come across.

Because 4.1.* was kind of bad and 4.3 has just gone stable "recently". Well, I hadn't had time to update the system to a new compiler, when it everything was built on 3.4.6.

Thank you for your understanding. At least this is here for someone that might come accross the problem.
