app-cdr/mdf2iso is no longer supported by the upstream in favor of app-cdr/iat : http://developer.berlios.de/devlog/salsan/2009/07/15/mdf2iso-go-to-retirement/ The present (=final) version of mdf2iso in portage seems to work incorrectly. 1. I had a file.mdf cd image. 2. mdf2iso file.mdf file.iso worked. 3. I tried to mount file.iso with root privileges and -o loop, it failed. 4. I emerged app-cdr/iat. 5. iat file.mdf file2.iso produced a file2.iso of _the_same_size_ (in bytes) as file.iso, but file.iso & file2.iso differed (cmp showed that). 6. I tried to mount file2.iso -//- and succeeded. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
Thanks for the report! # Jeremy Olexa <darkside@gentoo.org> (5 Oct 2009) # Obsolete and produces bad isos. Upstream recommends app-cdr/iat. # Removed in 60 days (or sooner based on lack of usefullness), bug 281149 app-cdr/mdf2iso
