I have rdesktop compiled with the -ao use flag. When I connect to a windows host with sound:local I get thousands of asyncq.c: q overrun, queuing locally which ultimately cpulimit.c: Received request to terminate due to CPU overload. I am running pulseaudio in my login session and am in pulse, pulse-access, and realtime groups. I have alsa defaulting to pulse and it doesn't matter whether I set libao.conf to alsa or pulse. If I compile rdesktop without the ao flag it runs through pulse without these problems. What version of rdesktop, libao and pulseaudio are you using?
rdesktop-1.6.0-r3, pulseaudio-0.9.15-r51, and libao-0.8.8
Is this still a problem with recent versions of pulseaudio?
(In reply to comment #3) > Is this still a problem with recent versions of pulseaudio? Yes. Up-to-date ~amd64. There is a patch in Redhat's bugzilla (#658018) that I've used against rdesktop-1..0 and confirmed works for me.
Thanks for the tip! I've added this patch in 1.7.0-r1 in tree
