Description Andrew Stimpson 2009-08-08 17:24:36 UTC
If the mouse cursor is is on the portion of the screen where the video is while the video is playing, and the timeout is reached, the mouse cursor vanishing causes the entire video to black out. It appears to continue to play, as the audio can still be heard. If I use smplayer (or mplayer itself from the command line), this does not happen.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Load the unclutter program in X11.
2. Load a video file in gnome-mplayer. (Apple trailers with gecko-mediaplayer
   work too.)
3. Place the mouse cursor on video.
4. Wait for unclutter to make the mouse cursor vanish.

Actual Results:
The video disappears.

Expected Results:
The video should not have disappeared.

In retrospect, I think mplayerplug-in might have been demonstrating the same behavior. I only tried to track down what was causing the seemingly random video disappearance once I switched plugins.

In case it's relevant, I'm using fluxbox-1.1.1-r1 and nvidia-drivers-173.14.18.

There's very little us maintainers can do with this. Instead you should report this to,

Ticketing system in http://code.google.com/p/gnome-mplayer

and unclutter authors (no clue where that is)

my 2 cents
Comment 2 James Earl Spahlinger 2009-08-10 01:52:40 UTC
I'm sorry to tell you that there is not much gentoo maintainers can do to resolve your issue, however the upstream developers as mentioned by Samuli Suominen will have a better idea on how to resolve your issue. Best of luck.
