I used the catalyst spec files from cvs and a recent portage snapshot to build a liveCD. When I boot the liveCD, the keyboard and mouse stop working once X has started. I think this has to do with X using evdev for input. The problem can be fixed by starting hald before starting X, or by adding: Option "AllowEmptyInput" "false" to the "ServerFlags" section of xorg.conf. I have attached a patch for a potential fix. Reproducible: Always
Created attachment 200048 [details, diff] Patch to start hald before xdm
This has been committed to the catalyst-3 branch in git.
HAL is long gone and support for graphical CDs is "fading" if not "non-existant", so I'm closing this one as obsolete.
