Just wanted to state I've been using this driver all week and it has been more stable (specifically with VDPAU) than the 185 series.. cheers Allan Reproducible: Always
Thanks for reporting your testing results! Could you post your 'emerge --info' output, to make it more useful for the maintainers?
Thanks for telling us it works :), it will be unmasked when the maintainers are ready. I'll go ahead and assign it to them and let them take care of it as they wish.
Since this a beta version of the drivers, I guess we won't be unmasking this ebuild unless there is some _very_ good reason for doing so. It is in the tree mainly for testing and for people using CUDA 2.3. I will leave it up to Doug to close this bug with a resolution of his choosing.
I propose a x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-beta, which never gets stabilized, and throw this and other beta drivers into there. That way x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers contain only the offical Nvidia-marked releases.

That would introduce an unnatural split between the two packages, and I don't think we do that anywhere else in the tree. What's wrong with having the packages masked? If you want to use them, or any other new beta versions, just add >=x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-190.0 to your /etc/portage/package.unmask.
Michal has the best solution to make the best of both worlds. (Following our official support to work with NVIDIA's staff and providing Gentoo users with up to date versions to test). Thanks Michal for your work on this one. Marking fixed since its in the tree and available for those that want to explicitly use it.
