x11-drivers/xf86-video-ati-6.12.2-r1freezes computer after starting X. X does not respond to any command neither they display anything (black screen).No problem indicated in X.org.*.log but I have no access to other computer to check other ways of input.
x11-drivers/xf86-video-ati-6.12.2 works ok.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install x11-drivers/xf86-video-ati-6.12.2
2. Restart X


Actual Results:  
Freez

Expected Results:  
Displaying picture (probably better ;) then before update)

There are 44 patches brought in by -r1, are you game for bisecting the set to find which one kills your display...?

Actually it would be good to start with posting your hardware details, so patches that only apply to other video cards can be taken off the list of suspects.

Make it boot => it crash.
Reboot, interactively disable the start of Xdm.
Update to the driver which works.
start your X.
paste /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old
might be usefull.

Those of interest for you:
anything stating r3xx-r5xx or rv4xx
also anything not specifying any card it uses.
