After upgrading to sys-apps/hal-0.5.13-r1 my KDE3.5 cannot automount usb mass storage devices, such as usb sticks, anymore. Are you in the plugdev group? Which was the last version of hal that worked? Which version of udev do you have? Did you upgrade udev with hal?
(In reply to comment #1) > Are you in the plugdev group? Yes >Which was the last version of hal that worked? the last working was 0.5.12_rc1-r7 > Which version of udev do you have? im using udev-141-r1 >Did you upgrade udev with hal? the last testing udev in portage is udev-141-r1 .. so i dont have to upgrade it. just tried to reemerge it after hal update, but the automount problem still remains
I confirm this I wrote about this http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=278631#c6
same problem here.
KDE 4.2.x is also affected. More generally, everything in kde which uses hal in some way is totally broken with 0.5.13-r1, e.g. the battery applet doesn't detect when the power cable is plugged in. hal itself seems fine, i.e. lshal shows the devices as usual.
And input hotplugging is also broken: the kernel sees the newly added device, but X doesn't pick it up. I also discovered that if I restart both hal and kde, then everything seems to work fine again.

I have kde 4.2.4 but even if i restart hal and kde, automount doesn't work anymore...
Not only automount, but my USB mouse also stopped working. Downgrading to 0.5.12_rc7.
Oh, and I am using KDE-4.3_rc3 (4.2.98) here.
This is fixed in 0.5.13-r2
(In reply to comment #10) > This is fixed in 0.5.13-r2 > Ok, works fine. Thnx :)
