After upgrading to dev-libs/nspr-4.8 from 4.7.4 pidgin displays following message when I try to connect to gmail.com account:
Server requires TLS/SSL for login.  No TLS/SSL support found.

With downdrade to dev-libs/nspr-4.7.4 it works again.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge dev-libs/nspr-4.8
2. try to connect google.com account via pidgin
3. ???????
4. PROFIT!!

And did you try the other way around -
rebuilding pidgin ?
Revdep-rebuild could help too.
