according to http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/openrc-migration.xml i installed sys-apps/openrc and used the example in /usr/share/doc/openrc/net.example on line 74 for my dummy interface, but it doesn't works: # /etc/init.d/net.dummy0 restart * Caching service dependencies... [ ok ] * Bringing up interface dummy0 * 192.168.2.{1..50}/24... Error: an inet prefix is expected rather than "192.168.2.{1..50}/24". # grep dummy0 /etc/conf.d/net config_dummy0="192.168.2.{1..50}/24" ATM i haven't a workaround found. I can confirm this error.
@Roy: How should that line look like to be working, or does that require some special shell that can evaluate this sequence? A short test with bash-4.0_p33 shows that sequences work only outside of quoting: $ echo a{1..3} a1 a2 a3 $ echo "b{1..3}" b{1..3}
The example is correct. However, the issue is whether I want to support bash expansion or not.
*** Bug 287970 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Roy, can you give us an update on this? If openrc is not going to support bash sequence expantion, I think we should remove the example so we don't confuse users. What do you think?
I've removed the non functioning example. I did actually have a stab at making it work again, but failed badly.
The example has been removed.
