With this version, I have to manually switch to a higher resolution every time I log in or boot up. 2.7.1 does not have this problem and I have masked 2.7.99 until this issue is resolved. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Log in 2. Go to KDE system settings 3. Change resolution from lower resolution to correct resolution (1440x900). Actual Results: KDM and KDE start at 1024x768. I have to switch it manually to 1440x900). Expected Results: Resolution should stay at 1440x900 or whatever resolution I set it at. 2.7.1 only identifies the 1440x900 resolution, while 2.7.99 lists several, including 1440x900. I don't see a way to set a particular resolution as the default resolution in KDE, hence I have manually masked 2.7.99 until this driver remembers resolution settings or until I can set my preferred default resolution in KDE. Please let me know if you need me to attach any logs or other info. emerge --info: Portage 2.2_rc33 (default/linux/amd64/2008.0, gcc-4.3.3, glibc-2.10.1-r0, 2.6.29-tuxonice-r3 x86_64) ================================================================= System uname: Linux-2.6.29-tuxonice-r3-x86_64-Intel-R-_Core-TM-2_Duo_CPU_T5250_@_1.50GHz-with-gentoo-2.0.1 Timestamp of tree: Sun, 19 Jul 2009 19:45:01 +0000 app-shells/bash: 4.0_p24 dev-java/java-config: 2.1.8-r1 dev-lang/python: 2.5.4-r2, 2.6.2-r1 dev-util/cmake: 2.6.4 sys-apps/baselayout: 2.0.1 sys-apps/openrc: 0.4.3-r3 sys-apps/sandbox: 2.0 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.63-r1 sys-devel/automake: 1.5, 1.7.9-r1, 1.9.6-r2, 1.10.2, 1.11 sys-devel/binutils: 2.19.1-r1 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.4.1 sys-devel/libtool: 2.2.6a virtual/os-headers: 2.6.29 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64 ~amd64" CBUILD="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -pipe" CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /etc/conf.d/clock /etc/conf.d/hostname /etc/conf.d/hwclock /etc/conf.d/xdm /etc/hosts /etc/rc.conf /usr/kde/3.5/env /usr/kde/3.5/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/shutdown /usr/share/config /var/lib/hsqldb" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/ca-certificates.conf /etc/env.d /etc/env.d/java/ /etc/fonts/fonts.conf /etc/gconf /etc/gentoo-release /etc/php/apache2-php5/ext-active/ /etc/php/cgi-php5/ext-active/ /etc/php/cli-php5/ext-active/ /etc/revdep-rebuild /etc/sandbox.d /etc/splash /etc/terminfo /etc/udev/rules.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="distlocks fixpackages parallel-fetch preserve-libs protect-owned sandbox sfperms strict unmerge-orphans userfetch" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.mirrors.pair.com/ http://gentoo.mirrors.tds.net/gentoo http://gentoo.netnitco.net http://mirror.datapipe.net/gentoo http://gentoo.mirrors.easynews.com/linux/gentoo/ http://gentoo.mirrors.hoobly.com/ http://chi-10g-1-mirror.fastsoft.net/pub/linux/gentoo/gentoo-distfiles/ http://www.cyberuse.com/gentoo/ " LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_CONFIGROOT="/" PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS="--recursive --links --safe-links --perms --times --compress --force --whole-file --delete --stats --timeout=180 --exclude=/distfiles --exclude=/local --exclude=/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.namerica.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X acl acpi administrator alsa amd64 apache2 apm aspell audiofile berkdb bzip2 cdaudio cdb cdda cddb clamav clamd clamdtop cli consolekit cpudetection cracklib crypt ctype cups curl dbus dell di rectfb dragonplayer dri dvd dvdr embedded encode exif fam fbcon fbcondecor fbsplash ffmpeg flac fortran gd gdbm gif gimp gnokii google-gadgets gphoto2 gpm hal iconv id3tag imagemagick ipv6 isdnlog j ava jpeg jpeg2k kde kde4 lame laptop lcms midi mjpeg mmx mng mp3 mp3tunes msn mudflap multilib musepack musicbrainz mysql mysqli ncurses networkmanager nls nptl nptlonly nsplugin ogg openexr opengl openmp otr pam pcre pdf perl png ppds pppd python qt3 qt3support quicktime raw readline realmedia reflection rss ruby samba scanner schroedinger sensord session spell spl sse sse2 ssl startup-notifi cation svg sysfs tcpd templates threads tiff truetype unicode usb vcd vorbis wav wavpack webkit winpopup wmf wmp xcf xorg xprint xscreensaver xulrunner yahoo zlib" ALSA_CARDS="ali5451 als4000 atiixp atiixp-modem bt87x ca0106 cmipci emu10k1x ens1370 ens1371 es1938 es1968 fm801 hda-intel intel8x0 intel8x0m maestro3 trident usb-audio via82xx via82xx-modem ymfpci" ALSA_PCM_PLUGINS="adpcm alaw asym copy dmix dshare dsnoop empty extplug file hooks iec958 ioplug ladspa lfloat linear meter mmap_emul mulaw multi null plug rate route share shm softvol" APACHE2_MODULES="actions alias auth_basic aut hn_alias authn_anon authn_dbm authn_default authn_file authz_dbm authz_default authz_groupfile authz_host authz_owner authz_user autoindex cache dav dav_fs dav_lock deflate dir disk_cache env expire s ext_filter file_cache filter headers include info log_config logio mem_cache mime mime_magic negotiation rewrite setenvif speling status unique_id userdir usertrack vhost_alias" ELIBC="glibc" INPU T_DEVICES="evdev" KERNEL="linux" LCD_DEVICES="bayrad cfontz cfontz633 glk hd44780 lb216 lcdm001 mtxorb ncurses text" USERLAND="GNU" VIDEO_CARDS="intel" Unset: CPPFLAGS, CTARGET, EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS, FFLAGS, INSTALL_MASK, LANG, LC_ALL, LINGUAS, MAKEOPTS, PORTAGE_COMPRESS, PORTAGE_COMPRESS_FLAGS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS, PORTDIR_OVERLAY
On another machine, it simply does not render graphics correctly (blocks of graphics are missing), is extremely slow, and freezes the system when screensaver runs.
Please attach the full output of dmesg and Xorg.0.log Thanks
I had this problem once. The driver detected, that a device is attached to TV out. I had to add a lot to my xorg.conf: Section "Monitor" Identifier "MonitorVGA" Option "Enable" "false" Option "Ignore" "true" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "MonitorLVDS" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "MonitorDVI" Option "Enable" "false" Option "Ignore" "true" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "MonitorTV" Option "Enable" "false" Option "Ignore" "true" EndSection And in the Device-section: Option "monitor-VGA1" "MonitorVGA" Option "monitor-LVDS1" "MonitorLVDS" Option "monitor-DVI1" "MonitorDVI" Option "monitor-TV1" "MonitorTV"
Please let's keep this bug on topic. This one is about the low default resolution. Someone please provide their dmesg output and Xorg.0.log. Thanks
I'll do that, as soon as I get a chance. I just need to recompile 2.7.99, reboot, and save the logs to a file to attach here. Things have been a little busy lately, but I haven't forgotten about this. ;-)
