Please help to provide the ebuild for ar9170 firmware. Also, I download the firmware from linux-wireless and use the module from gentoo-sources-2.6.30, wl tool, which cannot let my dongle work normally. By dmesg, ar9170usb module try to do site survey and always return nothing. May attach the detail log for this issue. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. modprobe nl80211, ar9170usb 2. wl wlanX scan 3. No AP is scanned. My platform is AsRock ION 330.

I've managed to make ar9170 TP-Link TL-WN821N to work under gentoo, you can check it here http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/TL-WN821N.
Need the ebuild for dongle listed below with Atheros WNIC driver and firmware. D-Link DWA-160 TP-Link TL-WN821N Refer: http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/ar9170
please do not add archteams to such bugs.
Is this under the Gentoo kernel or the Vanilla kernel? According to the Linux Wireless site, support (sans firmware) is in kernel 2.6.31. Enhanced versions in 2.6.32.
As a quick workaround you can emerge sys-kernel/linux-firmware (the current is 20110429) which includes all different firmware in one. The relevant files seems are ar9170-1.fw, ar9170-2.fw I found a firmware for my http://www.ubnt.com/wifistation (ar9271.fw, htc_9271.fw) in there too.
all appropriate firmware is in linux-firmware, please install that. Additionally ar9170 is deprecated in favor of carl9170 (which has firmware linux-firmware as well).
