After upgrading
net-wireless/iwl4965-ucode-228.57.2.23 to
net-wireless/iwl4965-ucode-228.61.2.24

Problem: connection drops randomly

dmesg: 
iwlagn 0000:06:00.0: Microcode SW error detected.  Restarting 0x82000000. 

lspci -v:
06:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 4965 AG or AGN [Kedron] Network Connection (rev 61)

uname -r:
2.6.30-gentoo-r2

Reproducible: Always

Thank you for report Märt. This is already known issue:

Unfortunately I don't think we can do anything more then they do. I'll close this bug at the moment since we really can do nothing...

If you really wish to help, read upstream bug report, enable debugging and add comment there.

In the mean time, downgrading to =net-wireless/iwl4965-ucode-228.57.2.23
solved the issue for me (had problems of the card dropping the connection after transmitting more than a MB or two.
